A steep climb up Calle Agua to start the walk

Looking back down Calle Agua

Ermita de Santa Ana

We took the road to the right here; the left goes to Fabrica de la Luz; the green "Rider" sign
upsidedown is for a group of motorcyclists who were doing a 3 day event in Andalucia.

Avocado trees to the right

At this point you leave the road and take the GR249 track by Villa Markez

An area recently ravaged by fire: the red cross is a "GR" marker telling you that this is not the way

Look at the camera, dear!

Trevor the ostrich. At one time there was a craze for ostrich meat and lots of farmers
started keeping them. The craze past and very few ostriches are kept now.

Jill and Susannah soon caught us up as we entered Cómpeta

We talked about the Villa and the Posada in Canillas de Albaida. The Villa suffers one major disadvantage; nearby dogs bark all night making it difficult to sleep with the windows open, without earplugs. I said that if I were to be coming to live in Canillas I would not bother learning Spanish…. I would just do a course in Barking! Robin immediately commented that I could do it online instead of going to Barking (Essex). The art of repartee is not completely dead……. It is just in ICU.

Robin went into to tell the story of the dog that went into the Telegraph Office to send a telegram. The operator said what is your message. The dog replied “ Wuf, Wuf-wuf, Wuf-wuf, Wuf”. The operators said that he could have two mores "Wufs" for the same price. The dog replied, no, “Wuf, Wuf-wuf, Wuf-wuf, Wuf, Wuf, Wuf” didn't make sense!

This time we took the concrete road by the cemetery, rather than the steep Calle Agua
